Life Events at Trinity

Baptism

Trinity recognizes Baptism as the initiation into the Church; in other words, it recognizes an indivudal as entering into a life of following Jesus and as a member of the Body of Christ. Anyone from infancy to adulthood is welcome to be baptized. During the baptism, individuals are washed with water in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

While people are baptized as individuals, they are baptized into a community of faith that promises to:

  • persevere in resisting evil

  • forgive one another, as God has forgiven them

  • seek and serve Christ in all persons

  • strive for justice and peace among all people, respecting the dignity of every human being

  • strive to safeguard the integrity of God’s creation, and

  • respect, sustain and renew the life of the Earth

Parents bringing children to be baptized make a commitment to nurture them in the faith and life of the Christian community.

If you, a child, or someone you know is interested in baptism at Trinity, please contact the office at info@trinitystreetsville.org

Trinity recognizes Confirmation as a point in time where an individual affirms their faith which begun at the time of baptism. Confirmation is the beginning of an intentional and life-long commitment to live as a disciple of Jesus. This is a time of prayer and a time to receive the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit as the individual begins a new chapter of their spiritual journey with Christ.

A person receiving confirmation at Trinity will:

  • already be baptized

  • have a strong understanding of the faith

  • be repentant of their sins

At Trinity, it is the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Toronto who will perform the Confirmation.

If you are interested in Confirmation for yourself or someone else, please contact the office at info@trinitystreetsville.org.

Marriage

Trinity recognizes marriage as in important life event that joins two people in a lifelong union of faithful love. By God’s grace, this ceremony joins the two individuals together into the marriage covenant, where they promise, before God, to uphold the vows exchanged during the marriage and to be faithful to one another until they are separated by death.

If you, or someone you know, is interested in marriage, please contact our office at info@trinitystreetsville.org.

Funerals

Trinity performs funerals as per request for those individuals who have passed away. The funeral service involves prayers, scripture, music, and a sermon. Throughout the service, there are also opportunities for remembering and grieving the individual who has passed away, as well as opportunities to celebrate the gift of life.
