21 MAY 2023 - Guest Speaker Mike Messenger
Mike Messenger, President and CEO of World Vision Canada, joined Trinity as a guest speaker. In his sermon, he reminded us that “choices matter in God’s story and in our story.” He also gives us the following three thoughts to reflect on:
God chooses us
We choose what we value
We can bless others by giving them choice
21 MAY 2023 - Be Chosen Launch
After the service, a team from World Vision Canada joined our congregation to launch a new partnership with a small, remote community in Honduras called Nueva Frontera.
Trinity members lined up in front of the camera and said ‘cheese!’ These photos would soon be brought to Honduras and presented to the children and families of Nueva Frontera.
22 MAY 2023 - Honduras Trip
A team of six from Trinity Church Streetsville travelled to Honduras for a week long trip and met with children, families, communities and schools. They were able to visit rural and urban centers, and learn first hand about the lifestyle, challenges and hardships faced by many of the people in these villages.
Furthermore, they were also able to learn about and experience the positive impact that child sponsorship, through programs such as World Vision Chosen, is having on these communities.
25 MAY 2023 - Chosen Ceremony
55 children from Nueva Frontera lined up and were give the opportunity to choose their sponsor from a gallery of photos.
They wrote handwritten letters to their newly chosen sponsors, including details about themselves and reasons for why they made their choice.
4 JUNE 2023 - Chosen Reveal Party
World Vision Canada was welcomed back to Trinity where members of the church were presented with envelopes with their names on them.
In each envelope was the name of the child who chose each person or family.
Individuals were encouraged to write letters back to the child who had chosen them for sponsorship. And so the relationship began!
